What do you watch or read during me-time?

Usually I will re-read some of my favourite books, like Harry Potter or Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. There is just something comforting about knowing the story beforehand. Then you can really hunker down and enjoy the development and the details of the story without rushing ahead to see what happens next. If I am in the mood to watch something I will also usually watch something I have seen before. Just so I know that it's good and I wont be wasting my time with something I will not like in the end.

What do you wear during me-time? #nobra

Pajama pants, fluffy socks and a cozy jumper. It's not about looking good, it's all about the comfort!

What are your me-time beauty products?

Usually I will opt for a foot bath using a foot bath salt, currently Comwell's Spalosophy. Sometimes I will go for a face mask, and then I just use some of the cheap ones that come in small packages just big enough for one mask.

Current favorite nail polish?

The Rimmel London Salon Pro. Maybe the colour is called 713 Britpop, but I'm not sure. But it's a sky blue one. It dries really fast and doesn't chip very much.

What do you eat/drink during me-time?

Chocolate! For an actual meal I like comfort food like mashed potatoes and gullasch. But otherwise chocolate...

Current favorite candle?

I don't really do candles that much. I think the scents get overwhelming quite easily so I usually just go for a lot of tea candles in cute jars etc.

Do you ever have outdoor me-time?

Every once in a while I go for a walk with some good music in my headphones and have a good think about things. I go for a run sometimes too, but that's not really enjoyable is it? But it feels good to think about it after a few days, when your muscles aren't hurting anymore...

Would you ever go see a movie alone?

Probably not. I don't really like going to the movies at all, because I find all the other people super annoying...

Anything to add? What else do you do during me-time?

I listen to music a lot. Pretty much anything depending on my mood, but some nice cozy music could be Langhorne Slims “Be Set Free” album or pretty much anything by Elvis Presley.

Reading the classics: The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

The book The book first appeared in Lippincott’s Monthly Magazine in 1890, and the year after it was released as a book in a revised edition. As I am working on this post, I discover that the book is not necessarily considered a classic….great choice for the kick-off post for the series then! However, in my experience, it does usually appear on “classics” lists, so I am going to count it! At the time of the first publication in 1890 it was considered immoral, by a lot of people, but Wilde took offense to that and defended his story. When it was published in book form though, he had changed some things and added a preface, that stated that books cannot be moral or immoral, only well written or badly written.  The author Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde was Wilde’s full name, but he later changed it to Oscar Wilde because, as he said, the name was too long for someone who was going to be famous. Review: Across the Universe by Beth Revis

This is the first book in a series, but I have no intention of continuing on with this series. The plot evolves around two young people, Amy and Elder. They live on a spaceship that has left Earth to find a new planet to populate. Amy was part of the cryogeniccaly frozen people on board, meant to be woken up upon arrival and using their skill set to populate the new planet. Elder, meanwhile, is part of the population that has been keeping the ship running whilst it travels towards its destination.  One day Amy is woken up from her frozen sleep and now she must learn to live on this spaceship, without her parents, slowly learning the culture and the secrets of this ship.
