Packing List For Iceland

I am going to Iceland in TWO DAYS! It has really crept up on me and only now am I starting to pack my bags. I made a packing list as I always do, to try and avoid forgetting something. I inevitably always forget something anyway, but the list gives me a sense of security, that I at least have the most important things with me. The list is quite similar to my Morocco packing list, or any packing list in general, as it is often the same things you need to bring. However there are a few differences as the climate in Iceland and Morocco is quite different. 

 So here it goes:

Contacts and a mirror

Tickets for flights and trains/busses
House keys
Book for reading
Notebook and pen
Guide book
Lip balm
Camera
Ipod and headphones
Cellphone

Big bag (checked luggage):
Underwear

Long pants
One pair of shorts
A dress
A skirt
Tops (T-shirts and long sleeved tops)

Sun creme for the face

Skin care stuff
Bug spray
Bug bite cream
Deodorant
Hair brush
Tooth brush and tooth paste
Floss 
Pills (any prescription drugs you need. You might consider bringing these in your carry-on in case your checked luggage is lost or delayed)

Camera charger
Phone charger
Ipod charger
Adaptor for outlets (For all the chargers and adaptors I usually bring a small hard box to put them in, so the prongs don't get bent, and the wires don't tangle too much)
Nail clippers
Shaver
Sun hat

Bobby pins and hair ties
Pajamas
Extra copies of travel documents
Rain proof clothing
Extra book for reading

I usually put anything that can leak, such as shampoo and cremes etc., into ziplock bags, so in case of leakage it is contained within the ziplock and not all over your stuff. I've also seen tips that include screwing all the lids off and putting clingfilm on the tops of the products before screwing the lids back on. That seems like a lot of effort, so I just use the ziplock bags instead. 

 I hope this was helpful. Now I have to go pack my bag, as I am leaving SO SOON!

Reading the classics: The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

The book The book first appeared in Lippincott’s Monthly Magazine in 1890, and the year after it was released as a book in a revised edition. As I am working on this post, I discover that the book is not necessarily considered a classic….great choice for the kick-off post for the series then! However, in my experience, it does usually appear on “classics” lists, so I am going to count it! At the time of the first publication in 1890 it was considered immoral, by a lot of people, but Wilde took offense to that and defended his story. When it was published in book form though, he had changed some things and added a preface, that stated that books cannot be moral or immoral, only well written or badly written.  The author Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde was Wilde’s full name, but he later changed it to Oscar Wilde because, as he said, the name was too long for someone who was going to be famous. This is the first book in a series, but I have no intention of continuing on with this series. The plot evolves around two young people, Amy and Elder. They live on a spaceship that has left Earth to find a new planet to populate. Amy was part of the cryogeniccaly frozen people on board, meant to be woken up upon arrival and using their skill set to populate the new planet.
