Blogmas Day 21 - Stocking stuffers

The stocking is not really something I have been used to doing for Christmas Eve. Rather, we would use a stocking as an advent calendar receptacle rather than wait for Christmas Eve/morning to empty it. Santa would put a gift in your stocking each day or perhaps only some days, and you would get to check the stocking every morning.

When you are little you are quite excited for all the erasers, pens, stickers and tiny toys you receive, but once you get older, you might wish for gifts of better quality and usefulness. This is when Santa perhaps only leaves gifts every few days or so.

I find that it can be hard to balance between buying gifts that are actually wanted and will be used and not blowing your budget on the stocking stuffers alone. Below is a list of some ideas for smaller, but useful gifts, that I think would go well in any stocking.

For pampering:
Face masks
Lip blam
Nail polish
Small sized body lotion
Hand creme

For the reader:
Inexpensive books
Book marks
Book ends
Book related knick knacks (check out Pinterest for DIY or Etsy if you are looking to buy)
Treats for reading time, like small chocolates or individually wrapped cookies

For the traveller:
Sleeping mask
Ear buds
A travel magazine
A notebook for keeping a journal
A guide book (these can be expensive though)
Energy bars to take on the road
Spork

For the man (please excuse any stereotypes coming up and feel free to buy these for anyone you think would enjoy a chili-flavored beer):
Speciality beer
Survival card
Moisturizer for the face
Wallet
Good quality coffee

For anyone:
Chocolates
Tea of coffee packs
Lottery tickets
Christmas decorations
Oranges or clementines
Fluffy socks
Mittens
Wooly hat
Picture frames
Candles, scented or just decorative

As with any gift, when it comes to the stocking or the advent calendar, take a few moments to find some personal, fun, useful gifts for the person and then fill up with nice chocolates or other treats.
