Book Unhaul!

As part of my “Simplify My Life” project I am getting rid of books I didn’t like almost as soon as I have read them. They don’t even get a space on the shelf, they go straight in a box to be donated, sold or given to friends as soon as possible. This means that almost my entire last book haul is included in this unhaul! I still have 2 unread books from the haul, but otherwise I think I am only keeping 2 books out of the 9 books I bought. And then I have some other books that are also getting the boot.

So let’s get started.

The first book I am getting rid of is The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith. This was an okay read, but I don’t think I will ever read it again or continue with the series.

Next up is The Elegance of the Hedgehog  by Muriel Barbery. See my review for reasons of unhaul.

Then we have the Reese Malcolm List by Amy Spalding. This book was also an okay read, but it didn’t really have me gripped.

Holy Cow! by Sarah MacDonald is next. I have a post on this in my series “My Travels in Books”. It is about India and although I enjoyed the book and thought it captured the essence of India quite well, it did have some issues for me, and I won’t be rereading it.

Then we have Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. This has been getting so much hype, that I was really excited to read it, and as usual with hyped books I was really disappointed. See my review for details.

Next is Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. I did like this book, but I won’t read it again. See my review for details.

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas is another super hyped up book that I just didn’t enjoy. See my review for details.

I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella was one of those vacation buys. You know, you’re running out of things to read, so you hit the local tourist shop which has a section of English language books. The selection is usually rather slim, but I did manage to find this and be quite happy with it, because I have read a few Kinsella books before and enjoyed them. But this one was just a bit too meh for me. I didn’t really like Poppy that much and the plot just wasn’t doing it for me either.

Next up is supposedly a classic; Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt. I really didn’t like it and you can see my review for details.

Then we have another one of those hyped books. Everyone seems to love Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell but I just couldn’t get into it. See my review for details.

The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness is the last book of this unhaul. See my review for details.

There we have it! Those are all the books I got rid of this time around. I ended up shipping them to my friend, so they will spread joy in someone else's life, hopefully.
