#SlayThat Series Readathon Wrap-up

Yes, I know, the readathon doesn't actually end until tomorrow, but I finished my book and for various reasons I won't be starting a new one (the main reason being I am reading "The Goldfinch" by Donna Tartt and it's a whopper. And I got it from the library, so there's is a deadline for finishing it!).

For this readathon I read "Blue Lily, Lily Blue" by Maggie Stiefvater, which is the 3rd book in the Raven Cycle series. For a long time I thought this was a trilogy, so I was honestly a bit disappointed when I found out I wouldn't get to know the end of the story with the end of this book. But I rallied and I am excited for the 4th book!

As mentioned, this is the third book of a series. In my view not much new happened, but the plot was still developed. When I say nothing new happened, I mean there wasn't a new plot point introduced or anything. Everything that happened was part of a plot line from the previous books. And that is okay, because there are quite a few people with each their different agenda to keep track of.

As for the characters I feel like we know most of them pretty well by now, and there wasn't much development on that part. So the book relied pretty much on the action and the mystery. There wasn't too much action until the end, but the search for Glendower continued throughout the whole book, with new pieces of information and clues added. So there was always something to keep you reading, but come to think of it, nothing much happened. Not until the end, where there was some action packed into the story, but otherwise it could become a little tedious. Especially because you follow along on the hunt for clues, and you only know what they know. And often they can't figure out the meaning of the clues they manage to find and just leave them to continue finding other clues. Which means that essentially you don't know much more at the end of the book than you did at the beginning.

I am excited for the next book, but I must say, I hope that will be the last of the series, as I feel like the story is beginning to drag on a little.

I gave this 3,5 stars on Goodreads.

This was my first readathon, and honestly I don't know if readathons are my thing. I feel like I didn't read more than I was going to anyway, but having the time limit of a readathon just stressed me out about it. Maybe it would have worked better, if I hadn't been working all week, and I could have devoted more time to it. I don't know. I might give it another try if a fun readathon comes along, but we'll see.
