TBR Update June 2018

Well, July is here. Am I the only one who is taken aback? I for sure thought I had a least a couple more days…But nope! Here we are! And surprise, surprise I did not manage to get my TBR down by 5. Well, actually I did but then I added more books, so now my TBR stands at 287. Meaning I have to delete 2 books off of it.

First lets go through all the books I read in June:

They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera - 4 stars (TBR book)

The Ghost Map: The Story of London’s Most Terrifying Epidemic - and How It Changed Science, Cities and the Modern World by Steven Johnson - 4 stars (TBR book)

One of Us Is Lying by Karen McManus - 4 stars (TBR book)

Genuine Fraud by E. Lockhart - 3 stars

Far From the Tree by Robin Benway - 5 stars

My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows - 3 stars

and by the skin of my teeth I managed to finish I Believe in a Thing Called Love by Maurene Goo last night and I gave it 2 stars.

Aside from finishing these books I DNF’ed The Aspirin Wars by Charles C. Mann and Mark L. Plummer and The Lollipop Shoes by Joanne Harris.

I would say June was a pretty good reading month. I read a lot of good books, definitely more than I feel like I usually do so that was nice. I also DNF’ed some books because life is too short…as evidenced by my huge TBR. Speaking of my TBR only 3 of the 7 books I finished this month were on it. Oops! I’ll have to try to balance that out a bit more this month.

As I said my TBR now stands at 287 which means I will have to delete 2 books off of it now.

*Deleting interlude*

Hmm, I think the first one will be Chilly Scenes of Winter by Ann Beattie. The synopsis is super vague but still very depressing. Plus it’s been on there since 2014 and I have no recollection of why I would want to read it….

The second to go is A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway. I have tried reading Hemingway many times and we just don’t get along, so there is no reason for him to linger on my TBR anymore.

And that brings us to 285 books to be read. I’ll have to make an effort with my July TBR to make sure I get some more books off my TBR pile. I'll need to get it down to 280 by the end of July.

How’s your TBR looking?
