Finished/Unfinished Book Series

This post is all about the series I have finished and the ones I for some reason have not finished. Now for the unfinished ones, there are definitely a few that I plan to finish, but definitely also a lot that I do not plan to continue. I have given a super short mini-review for each series (like, two words) to show why I did or did nor finish it.

For this post I was again inspired by Youtube, specifically this video by Bookables:

She, in turn was inspired by this video by Katytastic:

I had a good look around my shelves and since I (in my opinion) don't actually own many books, there were not a lot of series on show. So I figured that this would be a short and sweet post that wouldn't take long to put together. Oh, was I wrong! Just be sure I had a look at my Goodreads "Read" shelf and wow...There are a lot of series. And a lot of books I didn't realize were part of a series...Don't you just hate when that happens? But any way, here is the list in no particular order of preference:

FINISHED SERIES
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (Loved it!)
Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling (Loved it!)
Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien (Loved it!)
Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick (Hated it! Don't know why I bothered to finish it...)
His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman (Loved it!)
Between the Lines by Tammara Webber (Liked it well enough)
Wolfe Brothers by Markus Zusak (Liked it)
Revenants by Amy Plum (Really liked it)
The Iron Fey by Julie Kagawa (It was okay)
If I Stay by Gayle Forman (Really liked it)
The Wolves of Mercy Falls by Maggie Stiefvater (Really liked it)
Uglies by Scott Westerfeld (Liked it)
Beautiful Dead by Eden Maguire (Liked it)
Earth's Children by Jean M. Auel (My favorite when I was younger)
Balefire by Cate Tiernan (Liked it)
Sweep by Cate Tiernan (Really liked it in my Wiccan phase)
Black Magician by Trudi Canavan (It was okay)
Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery (Really liked it)
Kwani by Linda Lay Shuler (Can't really remember it...)
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams (It was okay)
The Year the Horses Came trilogy by Mary Mackey (Really liked it)

UNFINISHED SERIES
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare (Didn't really like it and after the 4th book it went downhill for me so I decided to stop it there...)
Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor (Rough going at first but I really liked the second book and can't wait to get my hands on the third)
Lumatere Chronicles by Melina Marchetta (Currently reading, planning to finish)
The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons (Read the first one, didn't really like it as per my review on this blog)
Ruby Oliver by E. Lockhart (Read the first one, thought it was okay, but a bit too "young" for me)
The Hungry City Chronicles by Philip Reeve (Read the first one, it was okay)
Contours of the Heart by Tammara Webber (Read the first one and LOVED it, didn't realize it was a series...)
The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater (Really like it and I plan to finish it as soon as possible)
The Serpentwar Saga by Raymond E. Feist (Can't really remember what it was about, so I don't plan to finish this)
A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin (I plan to finish this...at some point. The books are just so looong!)
Don Tillman by Graeme Simsion (Read the first one, it was okay, don't plan to finish the series)
Tales of the City by Armistead Maupin (I have read the fist book and it was enjoyable but there are other books I want to read more)
Thomas Cromwell by Hilary Mantel (I read the second book and really didn't like the writing style)
Connie Shapiro by Jennifer Weiner (It was okay, but again, there are other books I want to read more)
A Need So Beautiful by Suzanna Young (Didn't like it)
Hopeless by Colleen Hoover (Didn't really like it)
Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins (Enjoyed the first book, might pick up the next ones)
Walsh Family by Marian Keyes (It was okay...)
Robert Langdon Series by Dan Brown (I finally caved and read the Da Vinci Code but I didn't really like it that much)
The Century Trilogy by Ken Follett (Got bogged down in this one because I had just recently read a few series similar to it)
Seraphina by Rachel Hartman (Just never picked up the sequel)
Jack Howard Series by David Gibbins (Read the second one, it was okay)
Adrian Mayfield Series by Floortje Zwightman (Really liked the first one, but had trouble finding the next ones in a language I know)
Cities of the Interior by Anais Nin (Again I don't think I realized this was a series)
Great Plains Trilogy by Willa Cather (Once again didn't realize it was a series but I really enjoyed My Antonia, so maybe I'll give the rest of them a go at some point)
Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake (Really liked the first one, will finish as soon as I get my hands on the next book)
The Henry Family by Herman Wouk (The same as with the Century Trilogy above)
American Gods by Neil Gaiman (Didn't realize it was a series, but I didn't really like the first one that much)
Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard (I think I gave up because I was also watching the TV show at the time and the differing story lines confused me...)
Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs (Thought it was a stand-alone and didn't really like it anyway)
Thursday Next by Jasper Fforde (Enjoyed the Eyre Affair, so I might pick up the sequels)
The Wicked Years by Gregory Maguire (It was okay, but there are other books I want to read more)
The Little Lady Agency by Hester Browne (I honestly can't remember what this one was about)
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares (I have a feeling I actually have finished this but can't remember so it goes on this list)
Catch 22 by Joseph Heller (Didn't realize it was a series...that happens to me quite a lot apparently!)
Oz by L. Frank Baum (As above...)
The Border Trilogy by Cormac McCarthy (I read the first one and seem to remember it wasn't really my preferred style of book but it had its moments)
Heidi by Johanna Spyri (The first book was my favorite when I was a child, guess I once again failed to realize there was more than one book...)
The Notebook Series by Nicholas Sparks (Didn't really like the Notebook)
The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini (I have no memory of this book...)
Bridget Jones by Helen Fielding (Enjoyed the first one, but probably won't pick up the others)
Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella (As above)
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott (Just never felt the need to read the second one)
The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger (Didn't like the first one that much)

Well, I think that was it! Finally! By my count that is 21 finished series and 45 unfinished ones. I am looking to move a few from "Unfinished" to "Finished", but I think 21 is a number I can be proud of. Especially since I thought it would have been way fewer before looking at my Goodreads shelf!
