Winter Book Haul

So I know I said a few posts ago that I wasn’t being books these days. But then my favorite online book shop had a sale…and I caved! I bought 8 books, but they all had 20% off, so I couldn’t not buy them, right?

First I got the two first books in the Harry Potter series. I bought these, because I have them in Danish, and I really wanted the complete set in English. I don’t know if you can call it a “set” as such, as they are in three different editions….But I actually really like this edition, so I don’t mind the mis-matching set too much.

Then I got “Between Shades of Gray” by Ruta Sepetys. I have heard nothing but good things about this book. It is set during WWII, and deals with the deportation of Lithuanians to Siberia on the order of Stalin. I just read the synopsis and the main character is a young girl who encodes her drawings to give her imprisoned father a chance to find them again. Now I want to read it even more!

I also got “365 Ways to Change the World” by Michael Norton. This came up in my TBR Jar, when I was still strong and not being books. I put the slip back in the jar, because I really wanted to read it, but it wasn’t available at my library. But now I have it, so when the slip comes up again, I will be prepared. If I don’t read it before then! I must say I thought this book would give the standard advice like take shorter showers, recycle, bike more etc. But flipping through it I see stuff about green funerals, planting your birth tree and political protests. So I am excited to dive into this and try some stuff out!

Next up is “Girl of Nightmares” by Kendare Blake. This is the second book in the “Anna Dressed in Blood” series. I have no idea if this series is a duology or a trilogy, but I really liked the first one, so either way, I don't mind.

Then I bought “Angelfall” by Susan Ee, simply because Sarawithoutanh raves about it so much on Youtube. I had to see what the fuss is about. The book is about the apocalypse. Angels have come down to Earth to destroy the modern world, and when a young girl is taken away by them her sister is determined to get her back. Sounds interesting!

I got “Stormdancer” by Jay Kristoff, because it seems like everyone really loves his writing, even though he seems to be flying under the radar. I don’t really hear much about him, but what I do hear is good. So I decided to go for this book, which I believe is the first in a series. And that is pretty much all I know about this book.

Last up is “Station Eleven” by Emily St. John Mandel, which I have also seen making the rounds on Youtube. Everyone seems to love it, and it sounds intriguing. The apocalypse happens and 20 years on, the survivors have built a new world. A traveling group of actors perform Shakespeare plays in the cities they tour, but then apparently something threatens the world again.

I am really happy with all these books an super excited to start reading them.
