Blogmas Day 15 - Small Gifts in a Jar

Gifts in jar is a fun way to give gifts to those you struggle buying for or if you need to bring something for the hostess of a Christmas party or something similar. This post will focus on smaller, mostly inexpensive gifts in a jar, suitable for bringing along for the hostess or to give any friends or relatives you don’t really exchange bigger gifts with.

When making a gift in a jar, it is nice to have a theme. It can just be the person you are giving the gift to, if they have many varied interests and you know them pretty well. If you are struggling to come up with something, some sort of theme will help you fill that jar in no time. Below are a series of suggestions for themed jars and inexpensive items to put in them, that will hopefully help you out.

Hot Chocolate in a jar
Pour some of your favorite hot chocolate powder mix into a cute, small container and tie a bow on it. Add a small bag of marshmallows and a cute mug and you are good to go. If they really deserve a treat add a miniature bottle of Bailey’s to the jar.

Cookies in a jar
Pretty much the same principle as above. You add all the dry ingredients of your favorite cookies to the jar. You can layer them to make them look pretty. Print the recipe on some nice paper in a cute font, glue it to the jar, and maybe add a wooden mixing spoon tied on with a ribbon.

Spa day in a jar
For anyone you think deserves a break. Add a nice foot soak salt, some foot creme and a face mask. Maybe a nail polish and a lip balm.

Travel in a jar
For the traveler in the family who will appreciate you stocking up their supplies of the essentials. Fill a jar (or even a packing cube) with a small sized padlock, ear plugs, a sleeping mask, a travel toothbrush and mini shower gels and shampoos.

Of course you don’t have to use jars to make these. A mason jar just adds a little something extra, I think, but you can use any sort of container you have to hand. Maybe a little box with a Christmassy print on it or a cute tin. Any sort of container will do really.

Be sure to check out my next post for bigger gifts in a jar if you need something more for that new person who has just joined your family or that one uncle or aunt you never know what to get.
